We’ve been excited to give it another shot since Hannah and I went outside rock climbing at Smith Rock in Oregon. The Pikes Peak region is known for having some of the most stunning and difficult rock formations for rock climbing.

This region offers year-round rock climbing thanks to temperate temperatures and 300 days of sunshine each year. Climbers can scale the tallest rock cliffs in Garden of the Gods Park with permission. Even novice climbers can learn the sport from Front Range Climbing Company.

Caving

The good thing about caves is that the temperature inside never changes, regardless of the weather outside. It is always 54 degrees Fahrenheit at the Cave of Winds Mountain Park. There are three distinct cave excursions available to families.

Outside of the cave, though, the quest continues. Williams Canyon’s Wind Walker Challenge Course is a ropes course that hangs 600 feet above the canyon’s floor. The Bat-A-Pult tandem zipline has a 1,200-foot roundtrip distance as well. Or the spookiest ride, TERROR-dactyl, which propels passengers 200 feet into the canyon at almost 100 mph.
